Many years of research and development has determined the design of the "Unique " Folding Table Pads. Every pad begins its assembly from a base of several layers of insulating material. This base is invisibly hinged and then bound with an outer covering of high-grade leather cloth and a base covering of felt cloth, which adds further protection to the polished surface. The pad is approximately 10mm (3/8") thick and heat resistant to boiling point (212° F, 100° C). The pads are made in suitable size sections to fit the table both when extended and in the closed position. From long experience in the manufacture of this "Unique" Folding Table Pad, it has been found that sections should not exceed 81cm (32") in length, there are technical reasons for this. Pads can be made to any width, with the appropriate number of folds. The neatness and hardwearing qualities have always been an outstanding feature of (unique) Folding Table Pads. Laboratory tests have shown that the pad gives sufficient insulation for all practical purposes in the home. Particularly serviceable for children's board games, dressmaking, machining and for a variety of purposes where the polished or glass surface is in need of protection.
How the pads are made
Pads should be placed with the felt cloth next to the polished surface, keeping the leather cloth uppermost. Enabling the sections to stay tightly locked together which make the pad
water-resistant and hot or cold liquids spilled on the table will not reach the tabletop.
Colours
Brown leather cloth, which blends with most furnishings, has always been the popular choice. Other colours are available and the lighter shades (white & biscuit) make a suitable background for a gleaming white tablecloth. Also available Black, Blue, Green and Maroon, with matchmaking felt cloth on the underside.
Cleaning the leather cloth
Simply sponge over with a damp cloth.

An accident may occur whereby the felt cloth side of the pad may become wet or damp. To avoid causing a "bloom" mark on a table sensitive to marking, it is advisable to reverse the pad temporarily, using the leather cloth side next to the polished surface until the felt cloth is free from moisture.

Care should be taken when exceptionally hot dishes or similar utensils are taken straight from the oven and placed on the pad. Move the dish to one side after an interval of one or two minutes so that the intense heat is diverted from one particular spot.

These are simple precautionary instructions and generally are not necessary except with tables unusually sensitive to marking.

Do not stand or store pads alongside hot radiators, stoves, fires etc. Keep dry and in normal temperature.
